NLP for Personal Development

If you are interested to learn about NLP for personal development, then there are several NLP techniques that can help you. By using these techniques you will improve your overall awareness and create a superior state of mind.
To use NLP effectively for personal development, you need to know what you want to achieve and have an image in your mind of how you want to see yourself in the future. When you do this, you can “step in” to that image in order to make the improvements that are necessary.
Your aim here will be to master your emotional intelligence and communication skills.
Taking control of your mind will lead to you taking control of your life. Here are four NLP techniques that you can use for your personal development.

Creating Anchors

This is a very easy and effective technique in NLP for personal development. The technique relies upon you thinking of something great that you did in the past and then making the feelings associated with this achievement as strong as possible.
Once you have generated strong emotions you will need to do something physical to create the anchor. This physical action could be squeezing two fingers together or tapping yourself on your left knee. By doing this you will be able to recall the strong positive feeling instantly by performing the physical action.
In order for this to work effectively, it is essential that the feelings that you conjure up through your thoughts are as strong as they can be. If the feelings are weak, then laying the anchor will just produce weak results. So, really focus on that happy event and feel those feelings!
When you are creating the physical action, do it twice. The second time that you lay the anchor, try to intensify the feeling even more. If you can, go for doubling the intensity of the feeling. Repeat the physical “anchoring” five times so that it is really embedded. If at a point in the future you feel this anchor weakening then just repeat the process again.

Using the Meta Model

Contrary to popular belief, the Meta Model in NLP is not just about comprehending the problems of other people. You can use the Meta Model on yourself to understand the problem that you have. You will be thinking of yourself here and you have to deconstruct that thought conversation.
It is very common that when people are experiencing problems they know what the solution is subconscious. The issue is that the solution is not appealing, and they don’t really want to do it. This means that problems will linger and you hope that you can come up with a new solution that is better for you. By carefully wording the problem you can help yourself by using deconstruction.

Interrupting Patterns

The method of pattern interruption will help you to store words and phrases into your subconscious mind. An effective way of doing this is to create a pattern or sequence with your thoughts first.
When you use pattern interrupts you interrupt the established pattern of your thoughts right at the critical moment. Your subconscious mind will expect the pattern or sequence to play through until the end as usual, but you have interrupted this using your conscious mind.

Framing Emotions

We all experience moments that are good and bad in our lives. These are good for all of us as we learn and grow through them. Your memories do not have emotions associated with them.
This is because emotions and memories reside in different parts of your brain.
Long term memories are stored in the hippocampus area of the brain. Emotions are stored in the amygdala area. When a memory is recalled, you will receive a short reminder of the emotions that you felt at the time from the amygdala. This provides the opportunity to change the emotion that you associate with the memory.
